We want to inform you of an important change regarding the use of district-owned devices at Newfane Central School District. Beginning March 1, NCSD students will no longer be able to access certain additional Google services, including YouTube, Google Earth, and Google Maps, while using district devices.
This change is necessary because Google is unable to meet New York State’s data privacy standards for students when it comes to these specific services. However, the core Google apps, such as Google Classroom, Docs, and Drive, will remain available for educational use, as they meet the required privacy standards. Please know that this is not unique to our district, it impacts all districts in New York State.
We understand this adjustment may require some adaptation, and we appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a secure and compliant learning environment for our students. If you have any questions or concerns, please see Erie One BOCES's Frequently Asked Questions webpage.
